A-Z of Planning!

Hello, I am back (already) with another post!!!

Today I am writing an A-Z of planning!

I think I’m going to struggle when we get towards the end of the alphabet so we may have to skip a couple of letters LOL!!

Here we go,

A is for acetate. I recently learnt the name for this paper. Its basically transparent paper but you can get it in different colours and patterns. It looks great in your planner!!

B is for band (planner band). I have a few of these, sent from my lovely friend Ginger in America. There are a lot of etsy sellers that sell these online in various colours and designs.

C is for case (pencil case or planner case). Having a special place to keep your main supplies is great, you can carry these with you where ever you go! This create 365 case is perfect for carrying pens and a few of your favourite planner supplies. 

D is for dashboard. I loveeeeee dashboards. It’s the first thing you see when you open your planner, so you dashboard needs to be 👌🏻 I like to make my own dashboards from scrapbook paper or images I print off from the internet. I recently ordered some lovely patterned papers from One Stop Craft Shop, I am using one of the papers in my planner at the moment. 

E is for excitement. Getting excited when you see that a new planner has been released or going into you favourite planner related shop and seeing all the goodies that you definitely need to buy!!! 🙂 🙂

F is for filofax. The first planner I brought was a filofax and this is where my obsession began. A filofax planner is great to start with and they sell patterned designs or plain. I had to go for the butterfly one and because it was my first I don’t think I’ll ever be able to part with it.

G is for gold. Planner girls go crazy for gold! I’m not sure what it is exactly but its a must have. Gold rings in your planner, gold accessories, gold paperclips. I want it all!! Of course now the new craze is rose gold!

H is for hole punch. Guess what…… my hole punch is gold 😉 I was brought a 6 hole punch from my friend Ginger and this has definitely made my life easier when it comes to punching holes for my personal sized inserts. Before this I was using a single hole punch (is that whats is called?). I still do use this for my A5 inserts but obviously is takes longer to do. If you are just starting out though I would definitely recommend a single hole punch to make sure you holes are exactly right. 

I is for imagination. Yes I want my planner to look like all the gorgeous planners I see on Instagram and Youtube but when you are planning and setting up your planner there are no rules and you don’t have to copy other people. Use your imagination and get creative, its your planner to do what you want with.

J is for jot down EVERYTHING. This is what your planner is for. Give your brain a rest and write down everything no matter how big or small it might be.

K is for Kikki K. I really really love this brand and the perforated planners are just beautiful!! 

L is for lists. I love writing to do lists in my planner and the best thing I find about writing the lists is highlighting off the tasks when you have completed them. It really makes me feel like I have achieved something when I look at all the things I have done throughout the day.

M is for magnetic clips. A great way to mark sections in your planner if you don’t want to use dividers. I use a magnetic clip to highlight my monthly page.

N is for notes. It’s good to have a notes section in your planner, a place for things that don’t need to go on your to do list or weekly spread. You could use a notebook for this but having all of this information in one place makes it easier to find when you need it.

O is for Oli clips. I don’t actually own any Oli clips but I know they are well liked in the planner community. I think the magnetic bookmarks were a cheaper version of these clips. That doesn’t mean they are super expensive. I think I saw one not long ago for £6 which I was debating to buy. You can get holographic oil clips which look really nice.

P is for pens pens pens. I was debating pens or paperclips for this one. I do love my paperclips but I am definitely a #penaddict Using different coloured pens helps to organise different parts of your planning such as events, appointments and tasks. It also makes your planner look really pretty!

Q is for quotes (journaling cards). I love using journaling cards with quotes on in different parts of my planners. Sometimes you just need to see something like this to cheer you up or to give you some motivation.

R is for ringer binder, to store stickers. I really love the target binders to store my stickers. I have one of these, which was sent from my friend Ginger, she also sent me the clear wallets so now my stickers are all nicely organised which makes me very happy 🙂

S is for stickers. A planning essential! You can buy decorative stickers to make your spreads look colourful and exciting and functional stickers to make your tasks seem more fun. I have recently been on a sticker spreading spree and brought a lot of functional planning stickers from destashes and etsy.  I find that this actually helps me to complete tasks. For example. I do my ironing on a Sunday so I stick a cute ironing sticker on the day of Sunday, because I don’t want to waste the sticker I WILL DO THE IRONING! Do you see what I mean. You might think thats a little weird but it really works!

T is for tabs. If you read my last post, you’ll know that I am not currently using dividers in my planner and instead I am using patterned tabs. This is a great way to section your planner without having to make or buy dividers and having them take up space.

U is for unique. Make your planner unique. Like I already said it is your planner to do what you what with. I know one of my planner friends added butterflies to the outside cover of her planner. Some people might think she was crazy for doing that, but I think she has made it unique.

V is for vellum paper. This is another paper that I have recently learnt the name of. Its similar to tracing paper but looks pretty with different patterns and colours.

W is for washi tape of course!! I have lost count of how many washi tapes I own now.  Every planner addict owns washi tape. It makes your pages look so pretty and it comes in all kinds of colours and patterns.

X why does this letter even exist!!

Y is for year. Its really handy to have a yearly view in your planner. I find this useful if I need to check what day a certain date is on. You can also highlight birthdays and holidays on your yearly insert.

Z is for Zoe’s planning tip 😉 I use sticky notes for future planning, I do this so I do not mess up my weekly spreads with pen incase my plans change. It keeps me organised and everything nice and tidy. When I get to that week I can remove the sticky notes and write my appointments etc straight onto my spread.

It was harder than I thought! But I only missed out the letter X.
